Larscraft Guru LA Minefaire 2018
Chris and Lars CNC

Larscraft is a company conceptualized and formed by eight year old entrepreneur, Lars Gerding. Larscraft launched in 2015 with the design and development of a unique, heirloom toy chest, the Maker’s Chest.

Lars and his father, Christopher, worked together using their combined creativity and engineering skills to develop the chest and kickstart the company. (Check out our successful 2016 Kickstarter campaign.)

The product design included many iterations. Lars learned what designers call the ‘iterative process.’ This simply means that you do something once. You see a way to improve it. Then you do it again. And again. And again. Lars and Chris made several Maker’s Chests before they were happy with their overall design.

We love the line ‘Keep Moving Forward’ from the movie “Meet the Robinsons.” That’s exactly what you must do in the design and development phases of a new product. It is also important to have the wisdom to know when to stop, too. This comes with experience. Since Lars is a novice, he relies on Chris, a seasoned product developer, to mentor him.

From the beginning, Larscraft has grown into something greater than itself. As a company, Larscraft is grounded on a strong foundation of Building Young Minds. We (his parents) believe that all small things are capable of achieving greatness if given the right tools and encouragement.

It is our goal to show children that engineering can be fun and interesting.
We want children to boldly explore S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics). From here, they will discover new interests that lead them to uncover their untapped potential!

Everything that is done at Larscraft is a reflection of our core values, namely mentorship, creativity, education, and the promotion of S.T.E.A.M. And, let’s not forget the FUN! Larscraft aims to encourage children and their mentors to explore, create, learn, and grow while having fun.

In addition to toy chests and relevant accessories, Larscraft aims to uphold its values by holding events in the Northeast Ohio community that encourage children to explore, build, and create. Through the facilitation of these events we hope that children will come to see themselves as young makers.

Larscraft is the embodiment of an eight year old’s dream. This dream was realized through our core values. And, yes, we had a lot of fun along the way, too.

For all the Dreamers and Makers out there, young and young at heart, thank you for your support. We look forward to connecting with you.
